“The National Security Agency is establishing a new “Artificial Intelligence Security Center” to help spur on the secure development and adoption of AI capabilities, and defend AI advancements from foreign adversaries. NSA Director and Cyber Command chief Gen. The National Security Agency Is Starting An AI Security Center The National Security Agency (NSA) is launching an Artificial Intelligence Security Center in response to the growing integration of AI in U.S. defense and intelligence systems. Outgoing director Gen. Paul Nakasone emphasized the importance of maintaining the U.S. advantage in AI, particularly in the face of challenges from China. The center, to be part of the NSA's Cybersecurity Collaboration Center, will focus on safeguarding AI models from theft and sabotage, offering foreign intelligence insights, and promoting secure AI development. Nakasone's successor, Air Force Lt. Gen. It is official that it is official!  The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has just started an AI Corps with plans to quickly grow the team to 50 people. This move shows that the U.S. government recognizes the need to be more skilled at using artificial intelligence safely and effectively, as always a step ahead of many European countries 😓 The AI Corps will focus on big issues like fighting drug trafficking, protecting children from online exploitation, and improving cybersecurity. Though it hasn’t been officially mentioned, I think it is likely that the Corps will also work on AI tools to analyze text, images, and videos from the public. This could mean more government surveillance. Last year, the EU made it legal for government authorities to use AI in this way if they have a strong enough reason, but it's still unclear what counts as a strong enough reason.
