What the 4th of July Can Teach Us About Personal Work in the Office-- As we celebrate the 4th of July and reflect on the values that built a nation, we can draw valuable lessons to apply in our professional lives. Here are four key takeaways from Independence Day that can enhance our work in the office: 1. Embrace Teamwork and Collaboration The founding fathers knew the importance of working together towards a common goal. In the office, collaboration is key to success. By leveraging diverse perspectives and skills, we can achieve more than we ever could alone. #Teamwork #Collaboration #OfficeCulture 2. Pursue Continuous Improvement The journey to independence took time to achieve; it required perseverance and a commitment to improvement. Similarly, in our professional roles, we should strive for continuous growth and development, learning from our experiences to better our contributions. #ContinuousImprovement #ProfessionalDevelopment #GrowthMindset 3. Value Freedom and Innovation The 4th of July reminds us of the value of freedom and the power of innovative thinking. In the workplace, fostering an environment where creativity is encouraged can lead to groundbreaking ideas and solutions. Embrace the freedom to think outside the box and innovate. #Innovation #CreativeThinking #WorkplaceFreedom 4. Commit to a Greater Purpose Independence Day symbolizes a commitment to a cause greater than oneself. In our work, aligning with a greater purpose—whether it is providing exceptional customer service, driving company success, or contributing to community welfare—can bring fulfillment and drive us to excel. #PurposeDriven #Commitment #WorkEthic As we enjoy the celebrations, let's also take a moment to reflect on these lessons and how they can inspire us to bring our best selves to work. Happy 4th of July! 🎆🇺🇸 #4thOfJuly #IndependenceDay #WorkplaceInspiration #ProfessionalGrowth #OfficeLessons #ProductofYourEnvironment

FAMILY FIRST… Putting your family first is a commendable value that’s worth emulating… But navigating the fast-paced world of finance while nurturing a fulfilling family life is a balancing, often challenging act that many of us understand. It's a constant juggle between beating deadlines, quotas, and sometimes, eggs 😅 for your child’s snacks. I've found that building a strong support network is essential. My family's understanding and my team's collaborative spirit have been instrumental in keeping my sanity intact. It's a give-and-take relationship – we commit to our work, and each of us supports our personal lives - in a way that we encourage one another to finish the task right away (yet excellently) so that we may call it a day and go home to our families. I love this practice! We remind each other that it’s okay to prioritize, to delegate, and to seek help when needed. After all, creating values that will benefit generations takes a whole lot of effort - not just from you, but from the whole community 🙂 Beyond grateful to the team I belong to! What values do you want to create for yourself and your loved ones today? 😀 #LBFalumni #skyightower #sg #singapore #worklifebalance #singaporelife #financialindustry #familyfirst #teamwork

As we gather around the Thanksgiving table, political discussions are likely to come up. However, before diving into these potentially divisive conversations, take a moment to read Nat Kendall-Taylor's insightful article in The Hill. The article presents a fresh perspective on how to transform these discussions into opportunities for understanding and positive change. It is not about proving a point but rather about sharing values and envisioning a better future together. Let's make our holiday conversations count by engaging in meaningful and constructive dialogues. #CivilDiscourse #CivicLife #TurkeyTalk #HappyThanksgiving

Next week, March 16th marks my 65th birthday. Throughout my life, I’ve had the privilege of travelling extensively and playing a significant role in developing many technologies that have become integral to our daily lives. It’s astonishing how quickly time has passed. Reflecting on the changes I’ve seen, originating from a Northern industrial town, the transformation is profound. We’ve moved from a world devoid of electronics, AI, PCs, productivity tools like Office 365, enterprise software, the cloud, the internet, Wi-Fi, mobile phones, GPS, mass storage, supersonic flight, and space exploration to one where these innovations are integral to our daily lives. Science fiction once painted a picture of the future that seemed distant, yet now, I find myself engaging with AI on my desktop, a testament to human ingenuity. Reality unfolds in both anticipated and surprising ways. While I couldn’t have predicted the emerging technologies, they have spawned new jobs, professions, and disciplines. However, on a social level, the promise of technology providing everyone with an opportunity for a better life has not been fully realized. The optimistic predictions of a three-day workweek and multiple careers contrast sharply with today’s debates over the merits of a four-day workweek. The rhetoric often misses the point, framing reduced work hours as either detrimental to capitalism or a sign of laziness rather than recognizing the potential for improved quality of life. Looking ahead, I envision a future where AI seamlessly integrates into our personal and business lives, handling tedious tasks and freeing us to engage more deeply with the world. This shift will allow us to be less reactive and more thoughtful, providing a foundation for making well-informed decisions. The four-day workweek is on the horizon and will likely become standard within five years. Embracing this change will be essential for businesses that aim to attract and retain top talent. Advances in “background technology” will drive productivity, enabling us to accomplish in four days what took five. Do I plan to take it easy or retire? Don’t be silly; I still have too much to do and achieve. I'm Andy Age hasn’t diminished my relevance; experience has only honed my expertise. Life has taught me through victories and defeats. As your fractional Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, I possess the proven ability to drive your business’s growth. Count on me as your reliable partner. Book here https://lnkd.in/emMjKSt5

As a #RecentGrad who decided to bet on himself and continue building his client roster, this is a conversation I'm WELL acquainted with. The root of what this article gets at is #BoundarySetting and #EffectiveCommunication. What has #GenZ weaving the office into their life rather than the opposite, is the understanding that the workplace, however caring and supportive it may seem, will always protect their bottom line. GenZ has lived in times of immense turmoil for most, if not all, of their life. They've seen the rug pulled out from underneath them or loved ones. So, the boundaries we've set are for our peace of mind and represent a generational shift in the American sociological perspective on work culture-- namely, working to live. It's the same reason why GenZ is branded #jobhopper or is statistically more likely to ask for a raise (re: Mariah Flores' recent Workforce Confidence Article). GenZ believes in knowing what they're signing up for, being clear about responsibilities, and establishing trust that the work that is asked for, as long as communicated, will be done. #GenZintheWorkplace Free Link: https://lnkd.in/gZzmsBB5

The Working Age Forum is a popular network for professionals living with eye conditions in Ireland to meet, network, organise and learn from each other. Breandan Ward, Xavier Society for the Blind and Adjunct Professor at New York University runs the group. The next Working Age Forum meeting will be held online tomorrow - Tuesday, November 7 from 6pm - 7:15pm. This month, the topic is disclosure and how you can use your core values as a framework for disclosing and discussing a disability or health condition. Our core values are the things that matter most to us in our work and in our lives. Values energise us and give us the motivation to use and develop our strengths. In this interactive workshop, you will explore how defining our core values can help us disclose a disability or health condition while persuading others of the unique value we bring in the context of work. Registration and further details are here: https://bit.ly/460Fswm Learn more from Breandan directly about the Working Age Forum here: https://lnkd.in/e4_abjTK #Connect #Network #Support #WorkingForum #Working #SightLoss #SightConditions #LinkedIn #Networking #Forum
