The latest employment report from MassBio's affiliated organization, MassBioEd Foundation, has been released. Massachusetts' life sciences sector maintains an upward trajectory, surpassing national benchmarks across all major segments. Employment data may indicate a deceleration in growth compared to the peaks observed during and after the pandemic, but the projected 10-year expansion remains strong. With more than 140,000 total life sciences jobs, the Commonwealth continues to serve as a leading global life sciences hub employing a highly skilled and technical workforce. By 2033, the industry is anticipated to expand by 32%, adding nearly 38,000 jobs. Janitronics Building Services celebrates the continued growth of the life sciences industry in our home state. 🧬How is the spread of the US Biotechnology sector evolving in 2024?🧬 It's no secret that in the USA there are already a number of established Biotechnology hubs. 🌱 But, what do we mean when we say 'major hubs'? Most people think of, California with over 250,000+ employed professionals, Massachusetts (120,000+) , New Jersey (110,000+) and Pennsylvania (100,000+) to name a few. But there are a few other locations swiftly climbing the ladder... Georgia - Georgia's life sciences industry has grown by 20% since 2015, providing 11,225 jobs and housing over 33,000 professionals. North Carolina - In 2022, North Carolina's life science sector witnessed unprecedented growth, totalling to $2.1 billion worth of investments and more than 2,700 jobs being provided. New Hampshire - Presently, there are more than 450 active job listings (Increasing by 9% over the past year), employing over 9,000+ professionals and additionally contributing $6 billion to the states GDP. Virginia - The population of Life science professionals in Virginia has climbed by over 35% in the last year, increasing by 15% since 2018 and boasting over 31,000 life science professionals. What impact will the growth of Biotechnology hubs across the US have on the market and key hubs in the future? 🌎 #biotech #talentinsights #biotechjobs #growth

Massachusetts' life sciences industry grew by more than 7,000 jobs last year, outpacing competitor states even as the so-called "Covid boom" began to wane. That's according to the latest "Industry Snapshot" report put out by the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, the trade group better known as MassBio, which examines trends in workforce, real estate, funding and policy on an annual basis. As of 2022, Massachusetts had a total of 113,994 employees, up from 106,679 in 2021. Of those, 64,195 were R&D employees — an 8.5% increase from 2021 — and 10,493 were biomanufacturing employees, up 6.3% from the year prior, although biomanufacturing job growth over the long term has been much slower than it has been for R&D positions. The rate of growth for R&D jobs was second only to North Carolina. For biomanufacturing job growth, only Florida bested Massachusetts. The state's life sciences workforce is projected to keep growing like this, aided in part by workforce development programs run by the city, the state and MassBio itself. So what keeps MassBio CEO Kendalle Burlin O'Connell, Esq. up at night? Her largest battles, it turns out, are not specific to the life sciences industry — but they do have a direct effect on retaining employees in the state. https://lnkd.in/ewc6DR3U

A renaissance of BC’s “Biotech Boom” was the Globe and Mail cover story on March 9. In this in-depth article, Sean Silcoff spotlights the exciting things happening across life sciences while providing a retrospective overview of how we got to where we are today. Silcoff warns of the hazards that could potentially halt the fast-growing sector. In line with findings in our recent labour market intelligence report, one of those is lack of talent. “Canada lacks experienced executives who have led drug developers to market because few companies have made it.” However, there are a few promising companies determined bring BC, and Canada into the “global big leagues”. Silcoff confirms, “What isn’t lacking is a will to win.” Access article via Globe2Go: https://ow.ly/JV3M50QTxRw #biotechboom #lifesciences #globeandmail
