Over the past week, I have been looking at the beautiful pictures of graduation evening from Esade MBA 2024. My heartiest congratulations to these amazing future leaders, many of whom I have known personally, as I look forward to their next steps. I am also happy to share the completion of the Venture Capital and Private Equity course from Università Bocconi on Coursera almost exactly 1 year after my own graduation. When I came into the MBA a little over 2 years ago, 'Private Equity' and 'Venture Capital' were words I used interchangeably, not knowing exactly what they meant. Today I find myself in my 9th month working for a VC firm. To explain exactly how it happened is difficult, but it would have certainly NOT happened if I hadn't chosen to do my MBA. To all the recent MBA graduates, not just at ESADE, the future is just starting. There is nothing that's not possible now that you are on the other side. Just completed the first module of the INSEAD Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) program, and what a dynamic and rigorous learning experience it was! As the curtain draws to a close on this transformative GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science) MBA journey, it would be remiss of me not to reflect on one of its pivotal chapters – the Capsim Management Simulations, Inc. business simulation exercise with Roger Boniface Embarking on this dynamic journey opened my eyes to the intricacies of strategic decision-making, and the art of thriving in a competitive business environment. The Capsim simulation wasn't just a simulation, it was a real-world playground that sharpened my business acumen and decision-making skills. The collaborative spirit fostered during the exercise was nothing short of phenomenal. Beyond the numbers and market dynamics, what stands out is the profound impact of teamwork. Each team member brought a unique perspective to the table, fostering a synergy that transcended individual capabilities. Teamwork wasn't just a buzzword. Thanks guys for being such an amazing team -Kerushan Chetty Lulu Managa Pieter Deysel Nathi Motsoane Paul Jansen Tsailou Lin And then came the sweet taste of victory! Being part of a winning syndicate team within our industry was the cherry on top. It wasn't just about the accolades (I must hasten to add), it was about the lessons learned, the growth experienced, and the bonds forged in the crucible of competition. Grateful for the #Capsim experience, I carry forward a toolkit of skills and insights that will undoubtedly shape my professional trajectory. July was a fruitful month. For the first time since graduation, I went back to INSEAD campus as EMBA alumni. It felt different, and I enjoyed getting to know many EMBA candidates and alumnus from different years, as well as my cohorts Timóteo Guimarães Ana Albaiceta Bettina Sonnemann Márk Szabados Meghdad Khangosstar Cassandra Voss . Main purpose was to attend one of elective class conducted by Maria Guadalupe . The subject was various factors such as organizational structure, incentive scheme or culture which impact effectiveness of strategy execution. To me, this topic resonated more to my learning from EMC, as I understand how important it is to focus on people who execute strategy. I must say that even if we are aware of these elements it is not necessarily possible to implement changes depends on the position, but being aware of it makes a difference. After attending elective, I flew Copenhagen to see alumnus over there. Nicolai BANCK and Rafidah Rahumathullah feom EMC, Christian Wirawan from MBA, and myself from EMBA, it was interesting to inspire each other intellectually and time flew. After coming back, I had a good time with Harsh Shah who will embark on EMBA journey, and Youmei Zhou who is EMBA ‘24 candidate. Three of us are in different stage of same program, and it was interesting to share different point of view.
