In today's digital landscape, our personal data is often scattered and out of our control. But what if we could change that? In this clip, Jamie Smith discusses the potential of "empowerment tech" to give individuals the tools to track, manage, and revoke consent for their data. Currently, many of us have little visibility or recollection of where our information is shared, whether it's for a free cheeseburger or a business contract. This lack of transparency and control can be concerning, especially as data privacy becomes an increasingly important issue. However, with the rise of Empowerment tech, the balance of power could shift. Individuals would be able to see what they've shared, with whom, and why – and crucially, have the ability to easily revoke that consent. This user-centric approach to data management has the potential to be a game-changer, putting people back in the driver's seat of their digital lives.
