There is growing evidence of the benefits of children and young people gaming while in hospital. It's a challenge for hospitals who don't necessarily have the tech, the people, the processes, and the spaces to enable it. In addition to the physical, mental and social health benefits, addressing this gap would reduce inequalities between children who have their own devices and those who don't, those who are seen as gamers and those who aren't. We helped the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity research, co-design, prototype and test how a gaming service might look like in practice. In 2 weeks. It sounds practically impossible but here are some thoughts on what made it possible. - Getting connected to the right people who know the organisation well. Thank you Jonathan Haggarty - 2 weeks is the tip of the iceberg. Planning the project took several months with Douglas Samson - An experienced team Harriet de Wet and Claire McCready, supported behind the scenes by the BJSS and SPARCK - A clear process for fast innovation. You make a plan and you follow the plan, so everyone knows what's going to happen and how they need to support. - Staff with an appetite for innovation, a natural curiosity, committed to their patients' needs, who knew how to put in place safeguards, and who made themselves available. - Focus on the next steps, what does the organisation need to implement the service. #GlasgowInnovation #ServiceDesign #Innovation
To ensure young patients receive the extra special care they deserve, the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity (GCHC) fundraises tirelessly, with a £41 million investment since 2001. Got old gaming systems? Don't let them collect dust - donate them! 🎮 Cleaning out your closet and found an old Xbox, PlayStation, Wii or DS you don't use anymore? As tempting as it is to try and sell them, consider donating your retired gaming systems to organizations like children's hospitals, family shelters, libraries, after school programs, and assisted living facilities instead. You'll free up space AND brighten up some lives with the gift of gaming! Make sure everything works first, then call your local organization to see if they take game donations. Spread some gaming goodwill and maybe even spawn a new generation of gamers! Who knows what levels they'll unlock with your thoughtful hand-me-down? 💜

Friends, many of you know that in addition to my passion for games, I am an avid game collector, amassing over 2,000 items stored both at my parents' home and mine. Occasionally, as a token of appreciation for our community's contributions, fellow members and game manufacturers generously gift me items for my collection, as they know I never accept money. Still, our community operates on a strictly zero-profit basis, and I have always neutralized every penny of gifts by making equivalent contributions to charity. However, our family already commits substantial funds annually to causes primarily focused on essential human needs such as food and healthcare, details of which we prefer to keep private. Thus, moving forward and with Jess' agreement, I've decided to adjust our approach regarding just these game gifts from the community. I figured a gift from gamers should return to our community as a gift to gamers. Each gift I receive from a company or community member will now lead to an offsetting contribution to a special gamer ticket fund. This fund will be used exclusively to send as many of our members as possible to next year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC). This initiative was, by far, our most popular cost-bearing community activity over the last year, and I am committed to maximizing participation in 2025. For instance, First 4 Figures has kindly offered to send me a Sheikah Slate statue in recognition of our community's efforts. In response, I am setting aside $400 from my own pocket for GDC tickets next year, enabling two community members to attend. Upon receiving the statue, I will present a review of it and further discuss this new initiative. Last year, we facilitated 220 tickets for GDC, and I challenge our community to surpass that number in 2025. If you are interested in contributing to our GDC ticket fund, there’s no need for immediate donations. Simply express your interest, and I will add you to our list. Each expo pass costs $200. You can do this using our Ticket To Ride Form (Resource 14) from now through next March and make a pledge at: https://lnkd.in/dynRXCV9 I will keep adding money to the fund whenever a thoughtful community gift is received. Thank you again to First 4 Figures for sending two gamers to GDC 2025 and helping us use our collective passion for games to do even more good through our Ticket To Ride Program.

Back this Project | Support Hymn to the Earless God on Kickstarter and wishlist us on Steam | Kickstarter | Get to the know the characters in the featured section | Indie Gaming | Turn-based RPG
We have just launched our Demo for Hymn to the Earless God, a turn-based RPG with a focus on exploring an alien world called Gloom. Gloom is a dangerous planet inhabited almost entirely by sociopathic, insectoid creatures. It's a cold, hostile world, but it's also a beautiful world, filled with interesting biomes, a rich history, and long-kept secrets. Players will choose one of four main characters, each with their own full-length story as they fight against unique Calamities that might finally end Gloom. Even though you'll be exploring some of the same locations between storylines, they'll often play quite differently, and you'll find unique bosses, treasures, dialogue, and sidequests in each game. Each character will truly experience a unique adventure! We thank you for simply sharing and donating if you can 😀 Kickstarter https://lnkd.in/eJ-Bx5Wm https://lnkd.in/eN2TfjhK #kickstarter #steam #gamedesign #gamedevelopment #gamingcommunity #gaming #fundingopportunity #funding #donation

It's time to start paying attention to the gaming community, as it's officially larger than movies and sports combined. And it's not just for kids - 38% of gamers are between 18 and 34, with 16% over the age of 55. Gaming is shaping the future of entertainment, social media, and technological innovation. One key subject for gamers is inclusivity, which encourages empathy and understanding between different cultures and backgrounds. Gaming has become a vehicle for social commentary and political activism, tackling topics such as inequality, discrimination, climate change, and ecological destruction. Gaming also offers friendship, cooperation, and shared experiences, providing community and social support. Join the #stjudeplaylive charity stream for creators and gamers, and support St. Jude patients and families in a fun and easy way. Our gaming community has already raised over $60M for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - ALSAC. I developed a unique tabletop strategy board game called Vediic. The game introduces a new twist, challenging players to balance material gain with spirituality for victory. Inspired by the Indian knowledge and value system, Vediic offers a fresh and engaging gaming experience. #BoardGame #StrategyGame #Vediic Vediic is a strategic board game for 2-7 players that masterfully blends materialism with spirituality. It features elements of both competition cooperation. Players traverse the paths of the board, vying to strategically align with wandering planets. These planets shift from one house to another, usually triggering the activation of pawn positions and dispensing positive rewards through benefit cards that propel players forward. However, when planets transition into retrograde, their influences turn negative, impeding player progress and necessitating strategic maneuvers to avoid setbacks. The primary goal of the game is to skillfully navigate these celestial dynamics to accrue material gains in the form of benefit cards and make strategic donations, thereby earning enlightenment points. Players strive for the ultimate spiritual victory by elevating their pawns to higher levels of enlightenment through promotion or ascension. Thank you so much! Yasantha You can now pre order a copy at my Kickstarter campaign below. I do appreciate your support very much as it is my first venture of this sort. Please do spread the word to friends and families with teenage kids who play table top strategy games. https://lnkd.in/gbgqbT3Q

Sound ON, pls 🔊 English voiceover in video <3 ❤️ Check out, our latest activity on #roblox for Hochland. Hochland, in collaboration with Pajacyk (Polish charity), provides daily support to people in need 🥪. We've integrated this model into the game, allowing even the youngest players to make a real difference. This exemplifies how young gamers can impact the real world: do what you love – play the game, earn points, and provide a meal for those in need. It's a prime example of turning gaming into tangible help! During the campaign, players have generated over 2,500 free meals for young children in need, and it's still ongoing... #metaverse
