- [Instructor] Color is fundamental to effective design for many reasons. Color contrast is fundamental to creating an accessible site. How can you make the best choices about color in your design? Color contrast is a major concern for many groups of website visitors. Seven to 12% of men have some form of color vision deficiency. Though colored vision deficiencies are only around one half of 1% of women. Low vision conditions accelerate with age, so 50% of people over the age of 50 have some kind of presbyopia, ranging from a routine need for reading glasses or minor magnification to serious complications from macular degeneration, cataracts, and other eye conditions. The global population is getting older. By 2030, it's expected that one sixth of the world's population will be over 60.
