Speed up the pace of learning

- When you look at the agenda for a team meeting, how often do you see learning objectives on that agenda? It's usually all about tasks and doing things. The problem is the more that we focus on task goals, the less attention we pay to what's happening in the outside world. What makes it even worse is that teams instinctively assume the competitors are less creative, less go ahead than they are. Two simple things can make a radical difference. One is to task everybody on the team with monitoring one part of the external environment. For example, what's happening with a particular technology like artificial intelligence. Then at team meetings, they present their findings and the team explores the implications. The other powerful approach is to create a team learning plan. This starts at one end with the business plan and at the other end with everyone's personal development plans.
