- Spam. We hate it, we joke about it. It's the part of email that drives us crazy. I'm going to show you how to avoid sending spam and stay on the right side of the law. Spam is any electronic communication that is unsubscribed, unsolicited, or unsafe. Officially, it is defined as irrelevant or unsolicited messages sent over the internet to a large number of users for the purposes of advertising, phishing, or spreading malware. But spam isn't just bad advertising, it is potentially harmful. This damages the entire credibility of the email system, and 85% of emails sent worldwide are spam. So the industry works hard to identify and remove spam senders. In many cases, spam deceives people through phishing, appearing to be legitimate emails for the purpose of gaining account information.
