Vice President of Risk Management

We are now hiring for a full-time Vice President of Risk Management to join our Team!

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the leadership, innovation, governance, and management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the organization's operational and strategic risks. The VP of Risk Management will develop enterprise risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report risks, and manage risks according to an enterprise risk management framework.
  • Establishes the organization’s enterprise risk management architecture and framework and drives the organizational change necessary for its successful implementation and operation.
  • Oversees and monitors all operational and programmatic risk management activities of the organization, including monitoring and analyzing risks within the organization's business units, and reports on these risks to senior executives and the Board of Directors as appropriate.
  • Leads and develops a risk management team, including compliance staff, to build an effective matrix structure for enterprise risk management.
  • Ensures the organization's risk management policies and strategies are compliant with applicable regulations, governmental standards, and strategic imperatives of the organization.
  • Provides key input to the organization's senior executives and oversees the enterprise risk management process while also ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Leads organization-wide accreditation processes with the support of the Senior Director of Compliance and provides input on program or department-specific accreditations.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Data Officer to ensure cybersecurity efforts are aligned with risk tolerance, promote the mitigation of cyber risks, and protect the organization from technology-based loss.
  • Manages the organization’s insurance portfolio jointly with the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Leads business continuity planning processes for the organization.
  • Works collaboratively with and provides technical assistance and training for staff whose positions manage program-specific compliance and risk management activities; serves as a risk management champion, promoting organization-wide understanding of risk and risk management strategies.
  • Regularly meets with leadership to advance their understanding of complex risk and compliance reporting and assists them by providing a risk and compliance lens to incorporate in management of their programs.
  • Focuses on streamlining processes to help drive compliance and risk management efficiencies.
  • Maintains the organization’s legal representation registry and monitors the status of the organization’s legal engagements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in a relevant area is preferred, but equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in regulatory compliance or equivalent is required. Experience in non-profit organizations preferred. Government contract experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general office software, strong skills in presentation, data display, and analytics packages is
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Requirements

  • MFS staff are required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved Medical exemption prior to starting employment. If an approved Medical is obtained, weekly testing may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Salary

  • Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $140,000.
