ECHO is hiring a Technical Publications Manager! The Technical Publications Manager will lead a collaborative and cohesive team of Technical Writers, while also being responsible for World Class technical document development, content management, and web management of all technical publications which support service and consumer literature for the ECHO Inc. North and South American Dealer/Distributor Network.

This is a hybrid position that will offer the flexibility of working from home and on-site at our Lake Zurich facility.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support the team of technical writers, including selection, coaching, goal setting, and team development.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance content quality and writer productivity.
  • Drive the modernization of ECHO’s technical content architecture and develop a strategic plan for its implementation.
  • Participate in Product Development Working Meetings and Launch Preparation Meetings.
  • Act as a key stakeholder for technical literature support in all new ECHO product development projects and launches.
  • Establish and manage systems, budgets, and standards for the department.
  • Create and manage schedules to ensure timely delivery of literature.
  • Coordinate literature updates based on release notices, engineering changes, and outsourced change notifications.
  • Supervise translations, printing, and electronic parts catalog web publications, including managing purchase orders and approving invoice payments.
  • Address inquiries from distributors, dealers, field personnel, and customers regarding technical documentation and parts.
  • Oversee the translation of technical publications using internal or vendor resources, including vendor selection and pricing negotiation.
  • Develop departmental policies and procedures, collaborating with Yamabiko to meet worldwide technical publication requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver technical publication materials for distributors and dealers.
  • Establish objectives, goals, and performance metrics to motivate the team.
  • Collaborate with YBK Service/Literature Team to share best practices and define literature responsibilities.
  • Engage with outsourced tool suppliers to review, modify, "ECHOize," and implement CAD drawings and artwork.


Job Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills. Proficiency in English with the ability to manage languages other than English.
  • Experience with Desktop Publishing, Document Management, and Content Management systems.
  • Logical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective leadership and organizational capabilities.


Education: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field and or related field.
