Senior Accountant

Summary:

A successful Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting function, along with preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and other various financial reports. This role also involves contributing to process improvements, collaborating with different departments, and assisting in the implementation of various software solutions.

Principal Job Responsibilities:

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Responsible for all general accounting responsibilities including processing accounts payables and receivables.
  • Process payroll in HRIS system and respond to multi-state notices that are received (with support of external CPA firm for complex issues).
  • Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Assist in the development and review of budgets.
  • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted/forecasted financial results, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.

Process Improvement:

  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of process improvements in financial and accounting operations.
  • Maintain clear and concise process documentation.

Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and departments to understand financial processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Foster effective communication to ensure financial goals are aligned with overall business objectives.

Software Support:

  • Assist in the implementation of various software solutions for the finance department, optimizing workflow and enhancing reporting capabilities.

General Administrative Functions

  • General Administrative responsibilities assigned on an as-needed basis.


Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Broad experience working in an accounting department for a small to mid-size business preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and accounting functions.
  • Demonstrated experience with general payroll functions and comfortable with working with state agencies to resolve notices received.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Education & Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

CPA license preferred.

Salary: Starting at $80,000 based on experience and location
