The Role

As a Quantitative Analyst, you will distill customer analytical questions into their key components, seeking clarity when needed, and deliver high quality analysis leveraging Verse’s analytical tools. You will be supported by a team of data scientists who will continue to advance Verse’s capabilities and tools to address our customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality analysis: Provide high quality analysis to customers that addresses their needs; deliverables typically include summary slides that include high quality visual elements and well-organized spreadsheets with supporting data/calculations
  • Develop analytical expertise: Maintain a thorough understanding of the capabilities and analytical questions that can be addressed through Verse’s existing and planned analytical tools
  • Internal analysis and development: Perform in-depth analysis for internal audiences to inform the development of Verse’s software and analytical tools.
  • Contribute to codebase: Enhance the Verse analytics codebase improving existing tools and models and developing new capabilities.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Verse commercial, engineering and product teams to ensure that analytical tools and outputs align with customer needs and business goals
  • Continuous improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve analytical processes, tools, and methodologies. Stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate best practices into the analytical framework

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in quantitative analysis.
  • Experience with applied analysis using the Python programming language
  • Experience using databases (such as SQL/Snowflake)
  • Understanding of mathematical optimization principles.
  • Familiarity with visual display of quantitative information.
  • Ability to translate broad analytical questions into well-defined analytical problems.
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in an engineering or mathematical discipline.
  • Basic understanding of wholesale energy markets.
  • Excellent Python programming skills and experience with production software development.
  • Deep understanding of mathematical optimization
  • Experience applying optimization modeling and statistical methods to problems in energy systems.
