Job Description:
Our Client is looking for a PMO Director who will develop and implement PMO processes and policies, direct project management staff, and works with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop policies and procedures. The candidate will directs and oversee the Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure projects meet organizational standards of quality, reporting, and management.
Location:
Remote 4 days a week onsite 1 day a week in either San Francisco or Los Angeles
Duration:
6–12-month Contract
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and align project management strategies with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Maintain and enhance existing PMO governance framework, standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and alignment across projects.
- Oversee resource allocation, including project staffing, budgeting and resource utilization to optimize project delivery.
- Create and ensure tracking of project performance metrics, KPI’s, and milestones to assess project health and report progress to executive management staff.
- Assist PMs with identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and issues to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.
- Implement quality assurance processes and methodologies to maintain high standards of project delivery and meet stakeholder expectations.
- Engage and manage relationships with project managers, executive staff, and project stakeholders.
- Establish procedures to ensure good communications with accounting department throughout the project lifecycle.
- Document and communicate project manager expectations clearly.
- Provide training, coaching and professional development opportunities for project managers to enhance their skills and competencies.
- Oversee the organization’s project portfolio, including prioritization, alignment with strategic objectives and optimize to maximize value delivery.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project teams, stakeholders and others to foster a culture of transparency and teamwork.
- Coordinate deliverables with project managers, analysts, market leads, et al., while supporting contractors and reporting structure.
- Oversee project managers of all projects to make sure delivery of their projects is on time and within budget as well as meeting quality standards.
- Create and execute a reporting approach for executive team on progress and performance of PMO.
- Works with executive team to assess and decide on which proposals have the highest potential value, impact and strategic alignment.
- Identify project, program and portfolio priorities, deal with challenges and communicate project risks and opportunities.
Skills:
- Proven record managing teams and projects in the IT industry.
- Successfully manages project deliverables and keeps to timelines.
- Ability to identify sources of funding and business development opportunities.
- Expert knowledge of project and change management methodologies, techniques and processes.
- Able to manage budget, cost and profitability.
- Resource management skills and knowledge of tools.
- High-level communication, interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with project managers, teams, vendor and other stakeholders.
- Experience monitoring and evaluating projects, programs and portfolios.
- Teach and mentor small and large groups.
- Flexible, adaptable and resourceful.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and management of high-performing teams.
Education:
BA/BS in Business, Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
Desired Skills and Experience:
PMP Certification (Current or Past)
