Lead Sign Specialist

Job Description

Summary:

This position provides skilled technical support in the Sign and Fabrication Shop by creating work orders, performing planned fabrication tasks on vehicles, equipment, facilities, roadway signage, and other items as required. Assists the supervisor in directing technicians in the Sign & Fabrication shop. Assists with related maintenance issues using specialized technical programs such as CAD graphic, TMUTCD roadway signage standards. Uses equipment such as Waterjet, welding equipment and other fabricating tools. Other duties include overseeing the Sign & Fabrication crew in the absence of the supervisor, ordering material, and making decisions in completing related projects as assigned.

This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain agency operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.

This is a Safety-Sensitive Position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook.

Responsibilities:

• Repairs/modifies signage, facilities, awards, vehicles, and equipment using waterjet and other specialized equipment at the direction of the Sign & Fabrication Supervisor.
• Completes administrative tasks by answering the phone and responding to inquiries, creating work orders, completing technical research and providing technical assistance, interacting with vendors, training employees in safety techniques, and assisting with emergency situations.
• Fabricates and welds metal components and equipment.
  
  

Qualifications:

Minimum:

• Associate’s degree or technical equivalent
• 5 – 7 years’ experience
• Valid Class “B” CDL
• Ability to obtain welding certification within 6 months of hire.
  
  

Preferred:
