Role Overview

Harvey is a quickly growing legal AI startup. We currently have 150+ employees across our offices in San Francisco and New York, have been doubling in headcount each quarter for the last 3 quarters and continue to grow.

Although Harvey is an early stage company, our IT environment is quite mature, driven by our strict security demands. Some of the word’s largest companies and their law firms use Harvey to make sense of their legal documents and automate legal work. For example, all devices are centrally managed, all corporate apps utilize SCIM and SSO, and onboarding is mostly automated. The environment is 100% MacOS and cloud with only basic on-prem hardware.

You will be our second IT hire and initially report to our Head of Security. You'll be responsible for day-to-day implementation, integration, automation, administration and lifecycle management of Harvey's IT, network and AV infrastructures. This includes, and is not limited to, macOS endpoints, Google Workspace, Rippling, 1Password, Slack, Notion and Zoom. There is an opportunity and need to go deep into a broad range of IT topics. You will work in a dynamic startup environment with constantly evolving needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create a best-in-class onboarding experience for all offices while the company doubles in size every six months
  • Drive the adoption of IT systems engineering administration best practices including and not limited to documentation and training staff
  • Automate repeatable, manual IT and business processes
  • Plan and execute office expansions
  • Manage Harvey’s corporate network infrastructure
  • Manage vendor relationships for networking, AV and security
  • Manage the IT ticket queue
  • Make recommendations and implement new SaaS platforms and tooling
  • Work closely with Security to implement policies, tooling and compliance checks
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues

Qualifications

  • Predictable and reliable availability; customer service orientation
  • Coding in Python, Bash, or similar — our IT processes are mostly automated
  • Ability to debug weird system behaviors and solve difficult issues
  • Deep knowledge of operating systems, especially MacOS
  • Demonstrate senior-level knowledge of IT systems engineering, IAM architecture, end-user lifecycle management, MDM and automation of business process
  • Experience with log aggregation systems, managing HRIS integrations, AV and network infrastructures, managing office buildouts and expansions and writing technical documentation
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and ability to troubleshoot a wide range of networking issues

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a systems engineering, systems administration, site reliability engineering or similar role
  • 2+ years of experience managing MacOS fleets with MDM systems like Jamf, Google Workspace, Intune, Rippling, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing, integrating and maintaining SaaS environments
  • 2+ years of experience managing IdPs including and not limited to: SAML 2.0, OIDC, SCIM and RBAC

Experience working at or with a small company or a hyper-growth startup

Compensation

In consideration of market analysis and relevant factors, the salary range for this position is set between $140,000 and $200,000. However, adjustments outside of this range may be considered for candidates whose qualifications significantly differ from those outlined in the job description. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in our equity plan and benefits program. Benefits include, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits (401k match up to 4%), and flexible PTO.
