Position Summary

ECODIT is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Grants Manager for the five-year USAID Gender Leadership, Equity, and Advancement for Development (LEAD) Program. The Program provides technical assistance and forward-leading programmatic support, thought leadership, and knowledge dissemination in gender integration to USAID Missions and Bureaus across sectors and focus areas. The Grants Manager will report to the Local Partnerships Manager/Objective 4 Lead. S/he will provide technical and administrative leadership for the Grants Under Contract (GUCs) component, which will support learning and partnerships through small grants to under-utilized local partners. Grans will support local efforts to promote gender equality and decompose harmful social norms and behaviors.


Key Responsibilities

  • technical and administrative support for the planning, design, oversight, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of GUCs;
  • specific learning and program opportunities focused on transformative change in support of gender equality and women’s empowerment;
  • partnership with the Local Partnerships Manager, co-design a GUCs program that aligns with USAID policies and the capacities of local and under-utilized partners;
  • the grant solicitation process (i.e., APS, RFA), ensure that grant opportunities are known to and accessible by local and under-utilized partners;
  • regular outreach and foster ongoing engagement with local organizations working to advance gender equality in target countries and regions; develop solicitations, coordinate grant evaluation committees, manage the evaluation and selection process, and prepare grant awards and approvals;
  • the full cycle of grant management activities, including planning, facilitation, selection, pre-award assessments, negotiation, submission, orientations, review of monthly reports (including cost share), monitoring / compliance visits, and closeout;
  • technical, administrative, and other support to grantees throughout grant implementation to ensure compliance with USAID and ECODIT requirements. This includes delivering training on such topics as branding and marking, financial management, and USAID rules and regulations;
  • all grants records are complete and audit ready;
  • the preparation and timely submission of reports, including financial, programmatic, and compliance reports;
  • MEL practices that result in learning for the grantees, USAID, and the broader development community;
  • dissemination of learning and best practices from the grants administered through webinars and/or written materials;
  • the Grants Specialist; and
  • other tasks, as needed, to ensure the success of the Program.


Required Qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree in business administration, gender, international development, or a related field; master’s degree preferred
  • years of experience in grants management for donor-funded projects, in an international development setting;
  • knowledge of USAID regulations (2 CFR 200, ADS), program and operational cycle, audit and financial management requirements and reporting needs;
  • interpersonal and communication skills;
  • working in multiple developing countries; and
  • English written and verbal communications skills

Additional/Preferred Qualifications:

  • knowledge of key relevant USAID strategies, policies, and other guidance.
  • in a foreign language (e.g., Arabic, French, Spanish)
