This position is a shift lead for the Black Hole Bar and a member of the Black Hole Operations Team.
Responsible for overseeing shifts at the Black Hole Bar, its infrastructure and resources. Oversees
volunteer bar staff, and collaborates with Bar Management and Social Coordinator for event support.
Reports to the Black Hole Social House Manager.
Responsible for support on daily shifts in the Black Hole Social House

AUTHORITY TO ACT: EMPOWERMENT
Authority to make decisions and act with support and collaboration of Black Hole Social House
Management. Authority to cease service to patrons when needed.
Duties & Essential Job Functions
Daily support of volunteers during a 6 hour shift
Support training of bar staff and volunteers on best practices
Working with Assistant Bar Supervisors to keep the bar adequately stocked and serviced
Responsible for supporting bar’s Leave No Trace policy, assisting with closing & strike of social house
Collaborate with Black Hole Social Coordinator in facilitating daily content and event scheduling,
and the Gate Party.
Ensure the bar remains in compliance with all Nevada, and Event Health Codes as well as all
state, local and federal ABC regulations.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with GP&E staff and volunteers to foster a
better Manager/Employee/Volunteer work environment.
Attend the mandatory returning staff training shift on playa
Other Functions And Responsibilities
Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications Required
1 years experience with GP&E and/or 1 years real-world bar experience
21 years or older
Experience working in Gate, Perimeter and Exodus operations
Ability to work cross departmentally and maintain solid inter-departmental relationships
Ability to represent GP&E as the purveyor of the Black Hole Bar
Strong leadership skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people
Ability to think clearly, problem solve and remain calm under high pressure situations
Significant knowledge and experience within the Burning Man organization and community
Dedicated to Standards of Behavior and principles and ethics of the Burning Man organization
Ability to adjust schedule seasonally to work at the Burning Man event held in Nevada
Valid driver’s license and able to be insured by Burning Man
Preferred
Experience running a busy bar / social house at a major theme or staff camp
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Ability to practice self-care and communicate needs in a timely manner
Ability to handle high stress and potentially dangerous environments
Ability to work in high temperature environment
Ability to work in dusty environment
Ability to work long hours when required to do so and be flexible on work needs
