The General Manager of the Manufacturing Plant is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The General Manager develops processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise/Manage plant personnel, with direct reports of HR Generalist, Operations Manager, Production Supervisors, Maintenance Engineer/Manager
  • Manage plant costs to established budget; direct labor, raw materials, overheads, repair & maintenance, inventory
  • Manage plant safety programs and safety program improvements
  • Drive plant safety, quality and productivity improvement initiatives
  • Support corporate safety, quality and productivity improvement initiatives
  • Participate in annual budget process
  • Manage employee performance review process
  • Consistent communication with VP of Operations at corporate
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility. Lead and manage a team of department heads, supervisors, and employees. Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee all levels of staff activity and performance. Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer requirements and business goals. Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Financial Management: Prepare annual budgets and manage costs within the budget. Analyze financial statements and make decisions to enhance the plants financial performance.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all products meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and performance. Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems to improve product quality.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous improvement culture by implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other improvement methodologies. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
  • Customer Relations: Maintain solid relationships with key customers. Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Oversee Human Resources: Recruit, train, and develop plant staff. Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching to staff.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure the long-term success of the plant. Stay updated with industry trends and adjust strategies as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
