To learn more about our unique culture, visit our culture page.Our North American Semiconductor group is searching for an experienced Firmware Engineer to design, write, maintain, test, and install firmware and software to meet customer specifications. Develops firmware in C++ for new products and maintains code for legacy products. In this exciting role, you will

  • Design and implement embedded control systems targeting embedded linux and FreeRTOS environments.
  • Develop firmware in C++ for new products and maintain code for legacy products.
  • Assist in preparing functional specifications and schedule estimates in response to project/quote requests.
  • Prepare operator manuals and/or other documentation supplied in conjunction with a software project.
  • Improve product features and quality, reducing product development costs and product delivery cycle time.
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams locally and offsite in Japan.
  • Provide post-delivery customer support.

You will bring the following skills and knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Proven expertise with the Yocto Project, including creating custom layers, recipes, and BSPs.
  • Strong knowledge of the Linux device tree, including writing and debugging DTS files for custom hardware designs.
  • Experience with cybersecurity issues related to embedded Linux systems
  • 2+ years of experience developing embedded firmware in C++
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Design techniques highly desired
  • Experience with multi-core microprocessors
  • Experience navigating Open Source Software licensing as it applies to proprietary hardware
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, preferably TI RTOS / SYSBIOS
  • Experience writing MCU/MPU peripheral drivers (SPI, I2C, ADC, CAN, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration
  • Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators
  • Ability to read/critique electrical schematics and device datasheets
  • Experience working with analog and digital sensors and actuators
