Director of Development

The Mansfield Mission Center (MMC) serves the greater Mansfield area by striving to empower people with essential resources and fosters their independence. We are currently looking to add a Director of Development to our team.

Job Summary: 

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the Mission Center’s fundraising efforts including major gifts, individual giving, end of year campaign, special events, capital campaigns, etc. This person will work closely with the staff members responsible for managing digital, print, and marketing material for the organization to maintain a cohesive brand.

Reporting Structure: 

The Development Director reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with other MMC leadership team members, staff, and volunteers. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

Fundraising – 80% 

·    Plan, oversee and manage all fundraising budgets and efforts for the organization.

·    Collaborate with event planner for fundraising events.

·    Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, community leaders, and business owners.

·    Cultivate prospective donors on a continual basis and establish effective communications with them.

·    Manage donor relationships.

·    Direct the annual end of year giving campaign.

·    Direct all fundraising drives that may or may not include special events.

·    Attend public appearances and speaking engagements to share information about the mission center with the community.

·    Oversee donor database and tracking systems.

Marketing & Communications – 10% 

·    Develop marketing collateral for fundraising purposes. (print & digital)

·    Works with other staff to develop content that builds brand recognition.

·    Maintain gift recognition programs.

·    Maintain communication between the organization and donors, volunteers, and neighbors.

·    Create and send out press releases when assigned.  

·    Demonstrate ability to serve the community and communicate positively with donors, volunteers and local business owners.

Other – 10% 

·    Promote MMC Culture.

·    Participate in MMC staff meetings and events. 

·    Perform other related duties as requested.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

·    Be a goal-driven self-starter to initiate new donor relationships and financial gifts.

·    Must have strong interpersonal and writing skills.

·    Should exhibit strong presentation and communication skills.

·    Confidence and enthusiasm when communicating to both external and internal stakeholders. 

·    Passion for advocating on behalf of marginalized, high need and low-income clients. 

·    Exhibit humility and grace to work effectively with others in a collaborative workplace. 

·    Possess high energy and skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and volunteers.

·    High degree of professionalism and upholds confidentiality. 

·    Must pay great attention to details. 

·    Ability to work some evenings and weekends.  

·    Must have a Christian faith background and the ability to use Christ centered concepts in the workplace and community.

Education and Experience: 

·    Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college preferred, in areas of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field required 

·    3+ years relevant work experience in areas of fundraising.

·    Prior employment or volunteer experience in a social service nonprofit environment preferred.
