General Summary

  • The Director, Global Business Unit, Growth Franchises drives the Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) strategy for products sold to aesthetic health care practitioners. This person will be the go-to, "Franchise Strategy Owner" that will lead the PLM strategy for assigned franchise(s) within the organization.
  • Defines overall PLM strategy for assigned franchise(s), portfolios, and products.
  • Assesses the global marketplace to understand best positioning. Works cross-functionally to identify new business opportunities and market/customer requirements.
  • Gains senior management approval for new business strategies and recommendations.
  • GBU member of Cross Functional Team (CFT) triad; works closely with franchise product development team to drive new products through the development process.
  • Develops foundational value proposition, global positioning and messaging for new products
  • Works with finance and regional counterparts to develop pricing and forecasts for new product launches
  • Works with clinical and regulatory teams to create claims matrix for initial product launch


Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and drives global franchise strategy, jobs to be done, and the pipeline over the LRP which is 5 years forward;
  • Develops and drives global launch plans (e.g. positioning, value proposition, pricing, etc) including full P&L; ability to modulate and understand the critical risk of launch and develop mitigation plans; and this includes limited commercial release strategy and execution.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle including prioritization of lifecycle investments, NPI, and end of sale and service for the Candela portfolio which requires technical understanding;
  • Manage the clinical claims strategy and investments to support product differentiation including regulatory market prioritization.
  • Responsible for naming and branding of new products including vision.
  • Consumable experience
  • Gathers, defines, and leads the business requirements process based on VOC, market/clinical inputs and company internal information to inform franchise strategy.
  • Ensures the franchise strategy reflects business objectives and market needs. Works closely with the business partners, R&D, RA, Clinical, Operations, Service, QA, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to gain data inputs and information to inform strategic decision making.
  • Builds the business plan and conducts financial analysis for different product performance aspects (ASP, GM, annual revenues, etc.) and recommends pricing new product development initiatives.
  • Contributes to distinctive product positioning, messaging, and branding to drive competitive advantage, revenue, and market share for product launch.
  • Monitors competitive activity, including robust competitive analysis as part of the new product launch to regional counterparts.
  • Works with clinical team to inform ongoing market/post-marketing clinical research, supported by communication with leading KOLs and customers.
  • Communicates VOC to the organization from new product launches to enhancing existing product(s) or product line(s) – acts as the “voice of the franchise(s)” to inform strategic decision making to increase the health of the business.

Knowledge/Educational Requirements


  • 8+ years of experience in Upstream Product Management and Product Development
  • Outstanding clinical acumen can assimilate and apply technical information.
  • Experience in Dermatology, Aesthetics, Specialty Dermatology, or Medical Device/Capital Equipment
  • Excellent business acumen, P&L management, ROI analysis, and program/budget forecasting
  • Exceptional presentation, written and verbal communication skills with internal/external customers.
  • Ability to understand common scientific and technical journals, financial, and legal documents.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required, MBA a plus.
