Cambrian College’s Finance and Administration division requires a dynamic Director of Financial Services beginning, August 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, Administration and Applied Research, this individual will
Provide leadership to the Financial Services team and oversee the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of College financial services and systems in the areas of cash handling and treasury functions, operational accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll services, and cash station operations), financial reporting and control systems, operating and capital budget principles and procedures, and financial analysis. In addition, the incumbent will oversee College administrative services in the areas of procurement, risk management, and insurance.
Ensure that the long-term financial integrity and health of the College is maintained and protected and accountable for the management of College funds.
Ensure that all transactions that involve a financial component or effect are forecast, controlled, recorded, tracked, and reported on by the Finance area, and management and statutory reports are being prepared and audited as required.
Implement procedures and controls leading to accurate and timely contract management, and reviewing proposals, business plans and contracts as required.
Provide senior level leadership with respect to the development, implementation and maintenance of the College budget process, costing models for programs and activities, and is responsible for controlling financial risks to the College by identifying areas of concern and making recommendations to reduce risk exposure.
Be responsible for College-wide revenue and expenditure management and resource allocation as well as ongoing review of the College’s cash management strategies.
Collaboratively set, refine, and articulate the strategic vision for the Finance Department by fostering a high level of employee engagement, and excellence within the College in alignment with the College’s strategic plan,
Represent the department on various College committees.
Participate and contribute to the College Ontario Financial Officers Association (COFO)
Qualifications
Postsecondary degree in Accounting, Corporate Finance, Business Administration or a related field. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with the application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
Professional accounting designation (CPA)
Minimum of twelve (12) years relevant experience at a senior level
This position has a broad scope of accountability and requires proven experience in an advanced accounting capacity related to financial management, contract management and public financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a history of making strategic and innovative decisions and a proven ability to resolve complex issues/problems. In-depth knowledge of financial analysis/reporting, PSAB accounting principles and practices are required, along with a working knowledge of computer applications and software related to financial accounting, reporting and banking.

Proven ability to communicate (in writing and verbally) at an executive level.
