Lenovo is seeking a Legal Counsel for its Legal Global Contracts Team (GCT), reporting to the North America Contracts team leader. This candidate will provide legal support for commercial transactions using project management, process innovation, technology and tools to deliver legal work in a way that drives both improved risk-mitigation and improved efficiency.

Position Responsibilities Include

  • Drafting and negotiating a high volume of complex technology, sales and partnering agreements, vendor and supplier agreements, public sector contracts, and other commercial contracts including confidentiality agreements, license agreements, data processing agreements, professional services agreements, assignments and amendments; contracts for Direct and Channel sales, RFP/RFIs, resale, nondisclosure, software license/sublicense, evaluation, cloud contracts, XaaS (e.g., DaaS, SaaS etc.), flexible consumption models and other commercial agreements.
  • Developing and implementing legal efficiencies to support business teams, and improving contract processes and operations
  • Reviewing existing, and creating new, template agreements and negotiation playbooks to build the team’s knowledge base, and ensure consistency and speed
  • Working with clients and the legal team on strategic initiatives in support of all business units
  • Providing proactive advice regarding business and legal issues and risks
  • Collaborating with internal and outside counsel, technology experts, marketing and sales teams, product developers as well as with Lenovo’s customers and suppliers as needed

    • Comfort around running Steering Groups and reporting on performance to clients
    • Demonstrate an ability to thrive in a large, global company while coordinating the efforts of a large cross-functional group of internal stakeholders
  • Drive for Continuous Improvement
    • Quick to identify and resolve issues in collaboration with client and team members
    • Proficiency in utilizing contract management technology for client/company reporting, and workflow management
    • Possesses an appetite for innovation, driving efficiencies by developing playbooks, templates, etc.
    • Experience in change management as a result of implementation of company-wide policies and procedures
    • Strong communication and presentation skills will be necessary to explain complex matters to business partners in a manner that is readily understandable in order to ensure well-informed business decisions
    • Ability to manage multiple transactions and projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
    • Demonstrated exceptional judgment, integrity and ability to give practical advice appropriately weighing legal and business objectives

Job Requirements

  • JD or LLM and admission to practice
  • 8+ years of drafting and negotiation experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably focused on technology transactions

Location: Preferred locations include the Raleigh, NC area or the Chicago, IL area; remote positions may be considered. For "on-site" roles, Lenovo leverages a flexible workplace schedule that includes 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Travel Expectations: 0%

The base salary budgeted range for this position is $133,000 - $143,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission. Lenovo’s various benefits can be found on www.lenovobenefits.com.
