Child Protection Services Case Manager

Summary of Work

North Star Human Service Zone Child Welfare Department strives to ensure the safety, permanency and well-being of children and families in our community. North Star HSZ is seeking a Child Protection Services Case Manager for the Child Welfare department.As a Child Protection Case Manager, you will be assigned reports of child abuse/neglect for assessment. You will also be responsible to adhere with policy, best practice and planning and arranging emergency interventions, and to provide general program administration. This position will gather necessary facts and complete written documentation.To succeed in this position, you should be highly organized, able to manage your time and priorities effectively and have demonstrated ability to communicate with all types of people. You will need to have a strong understanding of the program policies and laws. You will also be comfortable working with all types of software and database applications with a willingness to learn new technology programs and have an eye for detail.Additionally, this position will require collaboration with other social service agencies, mental health professionals, school personnel, the court system, etc. The ability to work with families in their home using personal transportation is required, and nontraditional work hours are necessary at times.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have a bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Social Work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, criminal justice, or nursing-Plus, one of the following:Family Service Specialist III (SC7005):Two (2) years of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager. A master's degree may substitute for one (1) year of the work experience requirement.Family Service Specialist II (SC7004):One (1) year of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective service worker, or professional case manager.A master's degree in one of the above areas may substitute for the work experience requirement.Family Services Specialist I (SC7004):No work experience required.Salary will be adjusted if applicant is hired as a Family Service Specialist I or II.The successful applicant must pass a standard background, motor vehicle, criminal record check, and drug screen.
