To perform the athletic training duties required for multiple sports teams associated with Appalachian Regional Healthcare. Evaluate athlete conditions, injuries and illnesses, conducting diagnostic tests and exercises and communicating those results with medical professionals.
Responsibilities
Provide coverage and on-site care for athletic practice sessions and game events, both home and away.
Sport coverage will be assigned by Athletic Director and/or Orthopedic/ Sports Medicine Physician.
Tasks involve interpretation of data and/or procedures to address problems or situations that are not clearly defined. Work involves non-routine/diverse work not defined by procedures
Conducting athlete intake assessments and maintaining medical records for all athletes
Coordinating with the management to maintain equipment inventory
Maintain athletic training rooms as needed in order to provide the best athletic training experience possible for student athletes.
Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, student workers, athletes, parents, school administrators’, other coaches, physical therapists, doctors, and doctor office staff in order to share information about the athletic program. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.
Work is performed independently and employee assumes direct accountability for work except where the interpretation of law, policy, rule, complex procedure, or request for exception is required. Non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.
Perform administrative duties as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Athletic Training from accredited program.
License/ Certifications
Certified by the National Athletic Training Association - Board of Certification or equivalent.
Current Kentucky license as Athletic Trainer by the KY Board of Medical Licensure.
CPR preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
In-depth knowledge of with operating modalities and sports-related equipment, e.g. e-stim/ultrasound machine, ice machine, whirlpool, water boys, Normatec, Compex, Theragun.
Must be self-sufficient.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Must be able to perform simple calculations.
