Job Summary:

Cohen and Steers is currently seeking a highly motivated C# developer, Excel, Power BI developer to join our Information Technology department. The individual will be part of the development team that works primarily with rapid application development tools for both on-premise and Azure, solves complex problems and develops custom software solutions for our front office investment analytics team. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Support and enhance the firm’s reporting, integration and automation solutions related to front office investment analytics.
  • Develop and expand solutions to allow business teams to access data from our strategic platforms (Datawarehouse, Trading OMS, Security Master, Market and alternative Data, Risk and Performance/Attribution)
  • Develop applications utilizing Azure App Services (PaaS), Azure SQL Database, and Microsoft Fabric
  • Work with developers and other IT members in identifying and proposing application system changes, enhancements, or troubleshooting issues.
  • Supporting business users, investigate, and resolve application errors, data discrepancies and queries.


Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in the Information Technology field is required
  • 3-5 years’ experience with C#, .NET Core, SQL Server, and Excel in a similar financial services environment
  • Experience with Microservices, building Microsoft Excel add-ins, advanced Excel concepts, Microsoft Power BI, and Python.
  • Strong customer service skills, with excellent written and verbal communication, in order to communicate with all levels of end users
  • Experience in developing application solutions through all phases of the application lifecycle from initial requirements gathering to ongoing enhancements
  • Ability to work with users and managers to prioritize between tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


Beneficial Skills:

  • Experience with Excel RTD, Managed Xll, ExcelDNA
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD)
  • Experience with data wrangling, ETL, and Python libraries.
  • Experience with Bloomberg Terminal
  • Experience with Azure Application Insight
  • Experience of using job scheduling software (JAMS, ActiveBatch, AutoSys or equivalent)
  • Technical writing and documentation proficiency.
  • Recent experience in an Asset Management Firm or Hedge Fund
  • Knowledge of publicly traded asset classes (Equity, Fixed Income, etc.)
  • Knowledge of portfolio management process (Positions, weights, benchmarks, etc.)
  • Knowledge of an investment & trade lifecycle and data flow (straight through processing)
