Active Equity Investment Analyst

As a Quantitative Analyst at Vanguard’s Quantitative Equity Group (QEG), you will have the opportunity to work on advanced projects and collaborate with industry experts to create a significant impact in the field.

QEG manages active equity portfolios through a rigorous, fundamentally based research process aimed at uncovering signals that explain investment returns while applying robust portfolio construction and risk-management techniques. As a member of the Domestic Alpha Team, you will have the opportunity to fully participate in the team’s quantitative/systematic investment process through all aspects of the investment lifecycle including idea generation, alpha factor research, portfolio construction, portfolio management, and portfolio analytics/attribution.

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct quantitative research and analysis to develop investment strategies and recommendations.
• Apply statistical modeling techniques to analyze large datasets and identify trends and patterns.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement risk management strategies.
• Create and update sophisticated financial models to facilitate investment decision-making.
• Monitor market trends and economic indicators to determine potential risks and opportunities.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior management and clients in a clear and concise manner.
• Overall, contribute to the continued evolution of QEG’s investment process through self-education, independent learning, and idea generation.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
• Proven experience in quantitative analysis and financial modeling.
• Proficient in programming and querying languages such as Python and SQL.
• Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and financial markets.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
