“During our time as classmates, where we collaborated together in various Wharton and Penn Engineering courses, Simon was dynamic: focused and detailed when crunching project data, a natural planner that outlined activities and divided the workload; and an affable, down-to-earth demeanor that attracted whatever number of people needed towards a goal. Over the years, as he has kept his old university buddies abreast of his projects and work, the traits and skills I noted back then are even more defined and, no doubt, contributed to his successes. Truly when Simon latches onto an idea that excites his passions and talents, he drives through obstacles and challenges placed in his way. Such barriers and resistance may slow or stay others, but not him.”

Taking IT Organizations To The Next Level With Agile Portfolio Management
2018 Project Management Institute Washington DC Symposium
Agile adoption has become almost universal, however, it is fascinating that most of the management teams at the same companies that are adopting Agile are still planning in one-year increments. Managers are literally guessing about the resources they will need and the work that they will be doing ten months later. Typically, within the first few months of the year, the plan becomes irrelevant as the landscape changes from new projects and priorities or unexpected delays and changes in…

Managers are literally guessing about the resources they will need and the work that they will be doing ten months later. Typically, within the first few months of the year, the plan becomes irrelevant as the landscape changes from new projects and priorities or unexpected delays and changes in resources. This talk reviews how an IT management team of a small financial services firm took a conference room, colored note cards, and their experience with Scrum and Kanban to improve their throughput, increase visibility, and improve coordination across IT.
