    On 12th January 2009, The Times of India quoted Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama expressing that, "Lack of spirituality and culture is the main cause behind the rampant corruption in the world.

    This project set out to investigate whether the economic crisis was a result of businesses not acting in accordance with religious principles and if following them would have helped us avoid the downturn. In recent times, businesses have been extremely criticized for acting out of greed rather than for the benefit of human society (Wickramasinghe 2008).

    Aspiring to see things from a more holistic angle, rather than just settling for greed as a reason, this project attempts to identify whether lack of religious ethics triggers these selfish acts.
