You have a contract negotiation coming up. What’s the best way to prepare?
For me it is all about the details. I need to have a complete understanding of the room I have to move on pricing or other variables, or more importantly the room I don't have so I can prepare the plain spoken answer for sticking to my guns. Negotiations, especially with purchasing, can seem like a separate process from the full sales cycle, but it is just one piece of the total conversation. It represents more value you can bring to your potential customer. A good sales rep will understand exactly where their pricing lies in a competitive environment. Negotiations are just another part of illustrating your expertise in the market for their benefit. Knowing what a customer sacrifices to get to their desired price point is essential.
