The objective of the project was to create a company database based on the Resources-Events-Agents model for the sales cycle. The objective of the project was to create a company database based on the Resources-Events-Agents model for the sales cycle. The project had minimum requirements, such as having 100 customers and 100 sales transactions in the system. Microsoft Access and Excel were used throughout the process. We created a computer parts store that sold hard drives, memory RAMs, central processing units, power supplies, and a store that provided repairing services such as virus removals and installing adblock.

What separated this project from all others done in elementary, middle, high school, and other university courses is the length of the project, and the importance of teamwork. Most group projects in school could be done with one person doing all the work and the other three not doing much. This project was impossible for one person to do alone and needed all four members to work and be on the same page.

The project lasted around 100 hours, and required reports describing the data inputted that could be of use for company management, forms that would be used in a real company like a customer rewards program form, and queries to figure out data that could prove important to improve the company's sales and budgets.

From a teamwork point of view, the group struggled to get on the same page at the beginning. With differing schedules, mentalities on how the project should be done, and lack of communication, it was a huge struggle to get past the developing stages of the project. After a couple of meetings, agreements began and the project was finally able to be dented. After multiple hours, multiple disappointments, and constant refreshments of ideas, the project was able to be done with an 80 page narrative, a complete database on Access, and a poster board to show the completed work.

At Cal Poly Pomona, it's a badge of honor for accounting majors to complete the REA project, and I can safely say, the four of us did just that.

The project consisted of handling the responsibilities of the treasurer, controller, and accounting clerks in a company. We had to debit and credit a total of thirty transactions in the general, sales, purchasing journals, and then posted them all to the ledgers. The project consisted of handling the responsibilities of the treasurer, controller, and accounting clerks in a company. We had to debit and credit a total of thirty transactions in the general, sales, purchasing journals, and then posted them all to the ledgers. The examples given included buying assets, repaying liabilities, depreciating equipment, and correcting errors that are likely to occur on the job. The transactions were done by following the flowcharts' instructions. The project gave an understanding on how the accounting system works, why flowcharts are used for companies, and applied topics taught in accounting courses such as the gross/net method in a hands-on style. After handling all the transactions, we had to prepare the financial statements on Microsoft Excel. The statements included a year-end worksheet, balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and trial balances.
