“Maya Brown has been a tremendous asset to the Marketing and Communications team in the Career Center at Stony Brook University. In her first year as a Communications Intern, Maya excelled at creating video and editorial content for our website and social media channels. This year we promoted Maya to the Senior Communications Intern where she not only continued to create high-quality content for the Career Center but also acted in a leadership capacity for other interns on the team. In this position, Maya oversaw all of our social media content and managed our digital vision. She has allowed the Career Center to reach new heights as far as branding and recognition on campus that we are extremely proud of. Maya is extremely hardworking and always a team player, other members of the team are grateful for her leadership this past semester. ”

How college journalists have covered COVID-19
-
Back in March when COVID hit the U.S. at an alarming rate and universities closed down, the news cycle was never-ending. I am so proud of all of the coverage that The Statesman did regarding COVID-19. This trend also goes for other student journalists across the country and can be seen in this Poynter archive, which features student media from every state, including five articles from The Statesman. I am also honored to have an article that I co-wrote with Samantha Robinson on students…
