What are the most effective ways to engage employees in sustainability storytelling and branding?
Engaging employees in sustainability brand ambassador storytelling with our products and services is to proactively demonstrate how traditional business functions not only integrate, but enable more comprehensive productivity, save costs, and optimize efficiency. As a member of John Carroll University (where I graduated) I am on the University's Sustainability Committee. Our committee focuses on traditional business functions first like EHS, facilities, and finance departments. Building performance related to energy savings, or EHS related to cafeteria waste recycling operations. Sustainability by itself is not as valuable as when it is housed under specific, traditionally foundational departments/teams.

What are some team building strategies to ensure all members feel valued and included?
Successfully founding and leading Groundz Recycling since 2012 a team building strategy is to identify each team member's strength or "bent" on their unique perspectives. While most of us have heard about collaboratively working together through strengths, bent is worthy of leaning in and integrating their offer or concept where your first reaction is to see it as "immaterial" or "getting in the way of" a leader's original goal of team work outcomes. As an example, I have a business partner who kept mentioning his fallow, 100 acre farm awaiting reinvention. This week his bent towards his farm has now changed to "our farm" and new Groundz Recycling headquarters merged within our new company.
