Article entitled "Hope for the Holidays: Willi PD, community open hearts for girl," was recognized. The article is about the Willimantic Policeman's Benevolent Association's efforts to collect toys and raise funds to help a Willimantic 9-year-old girl who was injured in an East Hartford fire. Competition included 9 other articles from Middletown Press, Norwich Bulletin, Record-Journal, Register Citizen, Stamford Advocate, and The Day.

In recognition of a series of articles called "Survivor Stories" regarding cancer survivors who participate in the Relay for Life annual event at the Eastern Connecticut State University Athletic Complex in Mansfield, CT. Competition included 3 other articles from Stamford Advocate and The Day.
