New research is being planned by the most recent group of Texas Health Resources Health Science Fellows. From whether taste matters in the neonatal intensive care unit to nurse stress in end-of-life care settings, their projects will impact patient care and the nursing profession. “Empowered with research tools, skills and experiences through the fellowship, these nurses will serve as leaders in innovating approaches and programs that will improve outcomes and add to nursing knowledge,” said Mary Robinson, Ph.D., R.N., NEA-BC, chief nursing executive. Get to know Texas Health! Meet Gisela Flores, B.S.N., RNC-OB, C-EFM, a Registered Nurse at Texas Health Alliance. Gisela is in our employee spotlight and talks about why she became a certified nurse. When asked why do you think it’s important for nurses to pursue certification, Gisela said, "Having a number of nurses who are certified on a unit helps the unit more efficiently treat patients. We are able to rely on other nurses to help us because we know they have the knowledge to do so. Plus, it makes the patients trust us more if we have the certifications and knowledge to back up patient care." We love supporting our nurses who achieve a national nursing certification and grow in their careers at Texas Health with bonus payments and exam fee reimbursements.
