About us

TCHO Chocolate is a Certified B Corporation. Founded in 2008, TCHO Chocolate crafts award-winning and imaginative chocolate by collaborating directly with cocoa farmers at flavor labs across the world to grow better, more consistent cacao beans to create authentic craft chocolate to inspire the world’s chefs, hobby bakers, and chocolate enthusiasts. Like wine or coffee, cacao’s inherent flavors vary based on the terroir where it is grown, as well as on key processes, like fermentation or roasting, that influence the development of flavor. Since not all cacao is created equal, TCHO established TCHO Source, a one-of-a-kind sourcing and educational partnership with farmers, co-operatives, and agronomists all over the world. By installing TCHO Flavor Labs in key cacao-producing locations, creating industry cacao sensory analysis standards, conducting sensory training, developing standardized fermentation and drying processes, improving infrastructure, and sharing information throughout the world of cacao, TCHO has turned its suppliers into co-creators. From there, TCHO hand-selects every ingredient used to craft its award-winning chocolates for a great experience from first glance to last bite. As a certified B Corporation, we lean on our founding value of curiosity to find new ways to use our business to better the world through chocolate. That's why TCHO is Chocolate. Fair & Square. Join us in welcoming, Aidan Keefe to a sweet journey ahead as our new Director of Finance! 🍫 With extensive experience in finance and analytics from Silicon Valley, Aidan brings invaluable expertise to our team. Fun fact: Aidan was born and raised in Berkeley but spent many years in Silicon Valley working in finance and analytics, however, it never felt quite like home to him. Aidan comes from a family where dessert was king—his great-grandmother would plan meals around the dessert, and his dad believed no dessert was better than fine chocolate. After his father's passing in 2022, Aidan finds comfort in being back in Berkeley, living in his childhood home, and working on a team dedicated to making the best chocolate at TCHO. Aidan's favorite chocolate at the moment is Born Fruity, our single-origin dark chocolate sourced from Peru. 🍫 Welcome to the TCHO family, Aidan!

TCHO is proud to source cacao from organic certified small holder farms - exemplary stewards of the Earth, today and everyday. Through direct relationships with cacao suppliers and in-depth sensory analysis, we ensure the highest quality to make the best chocolate, while supporting sustainability efforts. We prioritize sourcing 100% USDA-certified organic cacao. Our cacao suppliers around the world are dedicated to practices that improve and preserve our environment. They’ve implemented regenerative agriculture practices, promoting biodiversity and soil health while reducing erosion and improving water quality. Through partnerships with programs like the PUR Project - every dollar you spend on TCHO helps efforts to reforest degraded landscapes and enhance resilience to climate change. Additionally, we roast our cacao at origin, reducing transportation emissions by over 20% compared to competitors. Our commitment extends beyond the cacao itself, most of our packaging, is now environmentally friendly, and there’s more improvements in the works. As a Certified @bcorpuscan , sustainability is ingrained in every aspect of our operations, from sourcing to how we make chocolate at our factory in Berkeley, CA. This means constantly striving to be better. Better stewards of our planet, better users of its resources, and providing a better quality of life. #earthdayeveryday #tchosource #tchochocolate #organic #bcorp #madeinberkeley #chocolatefairandsquare
