  • Meet Amber Dick, a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Rose View. As we approach Amber’s 7th anniversary with Rose View this October, we’re thrilled to highlight her remarkable journey and contributions to our team. Amber began her career in healthcare by taking CNA classes, but it was her nanny's diagnosis with dementia that inspired her to pursue her LPN certification, a decision that has significantly shaped her career and personal growth. Amber joined Rose View as an LPN right after obtaining her certification, and she quickly became a cherished member of our team. Amber is deeply committed to the residents at Rose View, her dedication and compassionate approach have made every resident feel like they are her family. She finds great joy and fulfillment in her work, attributing a significant part of this to her supportive and welcoming colleagues. "The staff here are amazing and feel like a second family to me," Amber shares, highlighting the close-knit community at Rose View. Outside of work, Amber is a devoted single mom to her 5-year-old daughter, Kerrigan. She balances her career with spending quality time with her family and friends, exploring her creativity, and enjoying concerts. Amber’s achievements extend beyond her professional life—she takes immense pride in owning her own home and having put herself through college. At Rose View, Amber thrives as an LPN, relishing the opportunity to take on diverse roles and responsibilities; continuously expanding her knowledge and skills. Her daughter is her greatest inspiration, motivating her to strive for excellence and to be a good role model. Amber dreams of traveling the world, visiting new destinations each year, a goal she hopes to achieve in the future. Amber’s willingness to help any department in need, starting each day refreshed and with a positive outlook, exemplify her commitment to our facility. She believes that working at Rose View is a unique experience because of the genuine care we extend to our residents, their families, and our staff. • Resident Spotlight: Mary Houtz Meet Mary Houtz, a beloved member of Rose View since March 2023. Mary was born in Williamsport, PA, but grew up in Montgomery, PA, where she graduated with the class of 1967 from Montgomery High School. After high school, she married Marlin Houtz and they enjoyed a wonderful 35 years of marriage. Mary dedicated most of her life to being a loving wife and stay-at-home mother to their three children, though one of her children tragically passed away 16 years ago. When her youngest child started 2nd grade, Mary embarked on her career. She worked as a school cook for the Montgomery School District for 10 years, then as a cook and café staff at Williamsport Hospital before it became UPMC. She concluded her working days with a 13-year stint at Sunoco of Allenwood. Through out the years Mary found joy in camping with family and friends and taking bus tours to places like Michigan, Kentucky, Ocean City, and Indiana. Above all, she cherishes the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, eagerly anticipating her great-grandson's high school graduation. Mary's current goal is to relax and stay healthy. Among her favorite things are homemade chicken pot pie, raspberry tea, and watermelon. She also enjoys cooking, crocheting, and sewing. Mary's smile lights up every room she enters. She is always warm and kind, and we are truly grateful to have her as part of our community. Mary's Wisdom: “Be true to yourself, make what you can out of life because you only get to live it once.”
