Southwest EMS in Mena, AR is live with the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS)! This implementation was a bit unique as Southwest EMS went live simultaneously in two locations. The Go-Live went off without a problem! MPDS is going to be a huge help to Southwest EMS' community. It guides Emergency Dispatchers and calltakers through getting the right information in the right order, dispatching the proper response, and then staying on with high-acuity callers and helping them until responders arrive on the scene. A little over a month ago, Benzie County Central Dispatch in Beulah, MI went live with the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) in ProQA! Their first medical call processed through ProQA came in about 11:15 and went off with no trouble. Benzie County's staff has been incredibly professional and capable as they've undergone the necessary training to get MPDS running in their agency. MPDS helps make every call consistent. With it, Benzie County's Emergency Dispatchers and calltakers will have access to tools that help assess callers and get them help while responders are still en route. Protocol 41: Caller in Crisis (1st Party Only) allows agencies to determine the right response for various mental and behavioral health episodes of any level of severity.
