Every $1 Congress invests in AmeriCorps yields more than $17 in benefits for local communities. But despite this extraordinary local impact, the House has proposed devastating cuts to AmeriCorps funding that would eliminate the AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps NCCC programs and more than 71,000 service opportunities. Join us on Wednesday, July 24, for #Stand4Service Today, a virtual day of action. Participants will be emailing and calling lawmakers, urging them to reject cuts and increase the investment in AmeriCorps. Tell Congress that AmeriCorps matters to you. Find out how you can help at https://lnkd.in/ef4CyXXS #AmeriCorpsWorks #Stand4Service

After a long school year and countless hours of service from our AmeriCorps members, we have spent the last few weeks recognizing the impact of PRI's PartnerCorps program and the wonderful members who were in the schools in our service areas all year serving as tutors, mentors, and family connectors. This week, we're hearing from Rob Bowers, the Associate Director of PartnerCorps in Appalachia, about what AmeriCorps provides to our communities. #AmeriCorps #RuralImpact

Join us in celebrating #SummerLearningWeek and the benefits of summer learning opportunities! This summer let's continue to support children in exploring new interests and skills. Programs like Full Service Community School State Scale Up's Kinder Camp, which provided incoming kindergarten students the opportunity to experience a day in the life of an elementary school student, measurably benefit student success. Find great summer learning activities kids can do at home at https://lnkd.in/gZnJZz4D.

A school district in Kentucky is the first in the nation to implement an innovative new idea: a telephone-based storytelling platform called "The Phonebook." In partnership with PRI, Middlesboro Independent School District worked with students from different grade levels to record stories, which can be accessed by younger students through a simple phone call. So far, the system holds 40 books and averages 100 callers each month. Initiatives like this not only inspire a love of literature in young students but also nurture the storytelling and writing skills of soon-to-be grads. We hope to inspire other schools to adopt similar programs, enhancing literacy and fostering community engagement. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/efNBR5eQ #RuralImpact
