We hope everyone has a fun and safe Pride weekend! If you’re out at the San Diego Pride Parade and Festival, stop by to see the Progress Pride Flag up on the California Tower. 🏳️🌈
About us
Formerly known as the San Diego Museum of Man, the Museum of Us is an anthropology museum with a mission to inspire human connections by exploring the human experience. Centered on core anthropological values such as compassion, sitting in generosity rather than judgment, and love for all humanity, the Museum of Us takes a different approach from the traditional authoritative “museum voice." The 501(c)(3) non-profit was founded in Balboa Park in 1915 and is located in the iconic California Building and Tower. Through original, interactive exhibits visitors discover what it means to be human - whether it's exploring how beer shaped civilizations, connecting with strangers over shared secrets, or discovering who cannibals really are (could you be one?).

The Museum of Us is honored to receive a Forever Balboa Park sPARK Crossing Boundaries Award for our partnership with Friends of Friendship Park. In 2023, the Museum worked with Friends of Friendship Park to preserve 20 dismantled sections of the U.S.-Mexico border wall that once stood at Friendship Park / El Parque de la Amistad. We are collaborating with a committee of community members to redistribute and exhibit the border panels on both sides of the border, which also divides the Kumeyaay Nation. We look forward to sharing the multi-faceted stories of Friendship Park and the unique "fronteriza" culture of our trinational region. Thank you, Forever Balboa Park, for highlighting the many outstanding individuals and organizations who inspire positive change, innovation, and creativity in Balboa Park.
