PLEASE APPLY or SPREAD THE WORD: A US-based auction house with headquarters in Chicago is looking for a Director of Jewelry & Watches to head up the team for this high grossing department. This position will manage the department including the team, budget and sales. The successful candidate will be responsible for business getting with both existing and new contacts, as well as overseeing strategy for growth of the department as a whole, with a focus on increasing the average lot value of jewelry and watch consignments. In addition, the Director will be someone who can work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and who has good relations with the trade and professional organizations in the industry.  The Director can have specialist knowledge in either jewelry or watches, but a Graduate Gemologist certification is required, along with time at a major auction house, and 3 to 5 years of relevant management experience.
