Weight Loss Surgery a Life Changer | Wyatt Blount has lost more than 100 pounds since his weight loss surgery in December, and has no regrets about starting his journey toward a healthier lifestyle. Wyatt has a family history of obesity, and as he watched the scale keep ticking upward last year, he knew something had to change. “My kids are young and I wanted to be healthy for them. So, I decided to move forward with weight loss surgery,” Wyatt says. Wyatt completed all of his pre-surgery exams and tests at Memorial Satilla Health, and then underwent weight loss surgery with Dr. Husain Abbas at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. He’s continued his follow up with Dr. Abbas here in Waycross. “They always made me feel like part of a team – like family – during this process. I can’t say anything negative about the whole experience,” Wyatt says of his journey. “I have less aches and pains and no more gout. My breathing is better, too,” he continued. “The transformation is encouraging. I’ve succeeded much better than I expected. But, I still have goals to meet!” Wyatt has lost 116 pounds since his surgery in December and aims to be under 200 pounds very soon as he starts to focus on strength training and building muscle mass. The weight loss has helped Wyatt maintain his active lifestyle. Wyatt is a school resource officer for Brantley County School System. He is also the county coroner and track coach for Brantley County Middle School. A lifelong musician, Wyatt and his children are actively involved in local orchestras as well.
