A judge has slapped 15 #nursinghomes with a $35.8 million judgment after finding an owner, on-site managers and a shared management firm “routinely” and willingly failed to properly compensate workers over six years. But whether nearly 6,000 affected workers will be able to collect on back pay and damages remains uncertain as several of the involved facilities are headed toward a #bankruptcy sale next month. The Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition is launching a new campaign for payment reform as the White House finalizes lower prices on 10 drugs widely used by Medicare beneficiaries and Congress toys with legislation that could loosen pharmacy benefit managers’ grip on most other US drug pricing. Both efforts could have unintended effects on long-term care pharmacies. "The current perverse payment model was not something long-term care pharmacies ever wanted. It was handed to them because of the disproportionate negotiating power [PBMs] have,” said Alan Rosenbloom, president and CEO of the Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition. #skillednursing #seniors #pharmacy #longtermcare #Medicare #drugpricing #PBMs

A big question for #longtermcare providers is how Kamala Harris might approach nursing home reform if chosen as the new Democratic presidential candidate. While traditionally liberal on healthcare, she might not embrace the same issues as President Biden. Brian Perry https://lnkd.in/gJvjabRh
