  • Locum Integration recognized there was a problem with current IT Recruiting and Staffing models - and they did something about it: Their trade-marked "On-Demand PMO" services (2016). Locum was early - but they were not wrong. Let Locum save your company upwards of 30% on your IT Staffing costs.

  • TOP 4 REASONS WHY THE CURRENT TECHNOLOGY RECRUITING MODEL IS FAILING ALL OF US: Here are the top 4 reasons why the staffing and recruiting sectors might be failing the industry: 1) Focus on keywords over skills: Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) often rely on keyword matching to filter resumes. This can overlook qualified candidates whose resumes don't contain the exact keywords, but who might possess the necessary skills and experience. 2) Lack of candidate experience AND recruiter experience: The application process itself can be cumbersome and impersonal, with long applications and waiting periods. This can deter talented candidates, especially in a competitive job market. On the recruiting side, this includes the fact most recruiters don't actually understand the technologies that they are trying to recruit for. Nothing is more annoying to a 50-year-old IT professional than having a 30-year-old recruiter or HR person interview them. 3) Bias in AI-powered tools: AI algorithms used in recruitment can perpetuate unconscious bias if the data they are trained on is biased. This can lead to qualified candidates from underrepresented groups being screened out. 4) Inability to assess soft skills: Many current systems struggle to evaluate important soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. These are often crucial for success in a role. This is why Locum Integrations only seeks out and calls up 20+ year experienced Program Managers and Project Managers for contracts. Our last round of submission was full of excellent PMs' very impressive - and we still actively seek out more resumes. And while we do have a brochure, that philosophy and principles sell themselves. When you're ready for something different and a new way to handle your IT-PM needs, reach out to us: www.LocumIntegration.com

Being a contrarian in the IT-PMO sector has its ups and downs. The “ups” is that when someone gets what were trying to do, they tend to “get it” right away. No sales needed. To all the other companies, particularly those in the verticals we serve like hospitality and Energy – to this I ask: If the current IT Recruiting and Contracting system works so well, then why are so many companies IT projects over-budget and behind schedule? It’s a simple question that no one has been able to answer. To that I will say: I’m waiting on an answer, but I won’t hold my breath. As a company with IT projects on the books, there is no upside to having to deal with IT Recruiting and all these layers of folks in the middle of the equation. First off, they are not technical; they probably don’t even understand the technology you’re trying to deploy. Second, it’s too expensive because these middlemen are more interested in protecting their margins. That’s the reason you will never see any innovation within the IT recruiting word – because they know essentially that they would be slitting their own throats. The solution to your IT project issues is going to come from outside the system; it’s going to come from a company honest enough to say to you, “OK, here’s how were going to save you money while protecting that precious capital and labor.” We have dozens of 20+ year experienced PM’s that understand perfectly everything I describe above. Given that, our second question is: Do companies understand this? Let’s talk about keeping your project on time and on budget while saving you money. www.LocumIntegration.com

WE'VE ALL HEARD OF THE PENTAGON'S $500 HAMMER..... It's always amazing to me how many companies get over-charged by their subcontractors - especially since all the information is out there on the web. It's likely this overcharging by subs is under-reported due to a few reasons: 1) Difficulty in Detection: Overcharges can be cleverly disguised or hidden within seemingly legitimate invoices. This is especially true if you have inexperienced in-house Estimators or Project Managers onboard the project. 2) Fear of Retaliation: Subcontractors are a crucial part of many projects. Companies may hesitate to confront a subcontractor for fear of jeopardizing the project or future collaborations. (Note - this has never been my issue; I'll always confront clear cases of overcharging. I think as a PM you have a fiduciary duty to not allow this to happen when possible). 3) Contract Ambiguity: Sometimes contracts lack clear pricing structures or allow for subjective interpretations, creating loopholes for inflated charges. However, anecdotal evidence and cases reported to authorities suggest it's a prevalent problem across various industries and verticals; in one instance, like construction US Postal Service Overbilling Case. Here are some ways companies can protect themselves from being overcharged by subcontractors: 1) Clear Contracts: Ensure contracts have detailed pricing breakdowns and terms for change orders. 2) Market Research: Research typical rates for subcontractor services before entering agreements. This includes using books like the NECA book for electrical contracting to confirm that the man-hours tasked to a particular piece of work are in alignment with what's standard in the industry. 3) Get Multiple Quotes!: Get quotes from several subcontractors to compare rates. 4) Scrutinize Invoices: Review invoices meticulously for discrepancies or hidden charges. 5) Open Communication: Maintain open communication with subcontractors to address any pricing concerns promptly. To include everything, the good the bad and the ugly. Protect those dollars and man-hours! Let us know if we can help... www.LocumIntegration.com
