In this issue of Healthfirst in the Community, we look at the importance of being locally present and establishing strong relationships with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and key stakeholders. These collaborative efforts to address community health issues allow us to deliver high-quality, accessible healthcare services that positively impact the health and well-being of our members and the community.

Healthfirst has dynamic team members from across the organization that help keep our members happy and healthy. Today, meet Tikesha Hines an Appeals and Grievances Quality Assurance Team Leader on the Appeals and Grievances Quality Assurance Team at Healthfirst. Describe your career journey at Healthfirst and where you would like to see it go?    I have been blessed to be a part of many different teams at Healthfirst within my nine-year journey, which include Provider Services, Operational Audit, Appeals & Grievances Operations and Appeals & Grievance Quality. I would like to see my journey with Healthfirst continue through to retirement within the endless opportunities that the company provides.     What is your favorite part about being an A&G Quality Assurance Team Leader?    My favorite part of being a A&G QA Team Leader is having the opportunity to lead such an amazing group of people and helping them blossom into the next step of their career journey by acknowledging and nurturing their individual gifts. Rosalynn Carter once said, “A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don’t want to go, but ought to be.” Who inspires you?     While there are numerous people who have inspired me, I’d have to pay homage to the first person to plant the seed of encouragement into my career path here at Healthfirst, the late Mrs. Melody Tyler. Her compassion for her team as a leader coupled with her knowledge of Healthfirst was a recipe for success in the lives of so many. 

Pride Month at Healthfirst is a time to celebrate and highlight Healthfirst’s year-round commitment to advocating for progress toward LGBTQ+ rights. This year’s Pride theme at Healthfirst is “Pride and Allyship Across the Lifespan,” which captures our pledge to celebrate and honor one another’s identity in all stages of life. This year’s theme mirrors Healthfirst’s goal of helping New Yorkers achieve their health goals across every life stage and age.

TimeBank by Healthfirst Foundation, a free program that facilitates the exchange of time, skills and services among volunteer participants and organizations, is unveiling their new technology platform and encouraging volunteerism as one of the best and most rewarding ways to combat social isolation. New opportunity to join Healthfirst as a Marketplace Facilitated Enroller! The Marketplace Facilitated Enroller (FE) is responsible for identifying prospective members that do not have health insurance and enroll them into one of the government programs offered by Healthfirst such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus (CHP), Essential Plan (EP) or a Qualified Health Plan (QHP).  The Marketplace FE is also responsible for assisting current Healthfirst members by recertifying them into Medicaid, EP, QHP or CHP. Learn more: https://myhf.org/4c6KsmE
