Want up-to-date location data on Australian address and administrative boundaries? Geoscape Australia's May 2024 release of the Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF) and Administrative Boundaries datasets are now available at data.gov.au. G-NAF has details of every physical address in Australia – all 15 million of them. The Administrative Boundaries shows government, statistical and electoral boundaries. Businesses and government are already using these data to: • provide targeted support during natural disasters • optimise delivery routes • validate online forms • plan infrastructure • assess property risk. Solar panels have the potential to play a key role in helping Australia reach its net zero targets by providing clean, renewable energy and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Geoscape’s location data shows that from 2020 to 2024, solar panel capacity in urban Australia has significantly increased. However, despite this growth, the renewable energy produced is still not enough to make a major impact. According to the The Australian National University Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions, Australia needs to build and install 22,000 solar panels every day to make the impact required to meet the national target. We’re so happy to announce our new Noise Mapping Datasets, developed in partnership with Ambient Maps and Geoscape Australia! The datasets were created by acoustic modelling experts and contain noise levels for each building throughout most of Australia. Noise values are generated using SoundPLAN software and are calculated for every storey of each building façade. This then reveals the range of exposure per building, by time of day and noise origin. This data offers invaluable insights on the impact of noise on the urban environment and reimagines noise mapping in Australia. We’re proud to be partnering with Ambient Maps and Geoscape to deliver these datasets to the AURIN community and to provide the most comprehensive and accurate data and insights about noise, at the most competitive rates.
