First the good news for #emailgeeks: Consumers WANT emails from brands. It's the preferred channel for promotional and transactional messages. Now the bad news... This same study from Mailgun found most consumers open only a few emails from brands per day at best. The email inbox is a vital connecting point for businesses and customers. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿? If you ask most people, it's anyone who sends them too much annoying stuff. Even when you obtain consent, you can still get marked as spam. And if more than 0.1% of recipients do so - you'll have trouble reaching inboxes. (That's one out of every 1,000 subscribers for those of you keeping track at home.) Lots of legitimate senders have done somewhat shady things. Others are just unaware of the consequences of poor list hygiene and sending irrelevant "𝙀𝙈𝘼𝙄𝙇 𝘽𝙇𝘼𝙎𝙏𝙎" (yeah, we said it).
