Let's clear up a common misunderstanding: When we say "Headless is dead," we're not dismissing headless architecture. We're actually championing its evolution into something more versatile and powerful. Enter #UniversalCMS: the best of all worlds. It's designed to excel in both single-channel and multi-channel scenarios. Whether you're focusing on a traditional website or spreading content across various platforms, Universal CMS has you covered. For web-centric businesses, it eliminates the unnecessary complexity often associated with pure headless systems. Yet, it retains all the flexibility needed for multi-channel content delivery. It's about giving you the right tools for your specific needs, without overcomplicating things. This approach means content teams get intuitive visual editing, developers enjoy headless flexibility, and organizations achieve streamlined efficiency - regardless of their content distribution needs. Ready to explore this game-changing concept? Join dotCMS and industry leaders in Montreal on August 5th for the Universal CMS Summit. Let's reshape the future of content management together! Details and registration in the comments. Don't miss this opportunity to stay ahead in the CMS evolution!

In the view of buyers and customers, what's the biggest issue facing the CMS industry today? Over my conversations with countless enterprise organizations and mid-market companies in the last few years, I've found two common threads: On one end, CTOs at forward-looking, innovative startups and businesses are deeply unhappy with the status quo of the hybrid-headless and traditional CMS developer experience. So-called "legacy stalwarts" still aren't gold standard for headless, JavaScript, and Jamstack implementations; and omnichannel and multimodal experiences are right out. On the other, CMOs at conservative, bureaucratic enterprises are deeply unhappy with the up-front costs engendered by a headless or composable replatform. They're facing SOWs for visual editing features that should come out of the box, especially for those large companies still early in their digital transformation journeys and focused on delivering a great website first and foremost (something Zain I. alluded to earlier this week). Just as CMOs are looking for incrementally adoptable CMSs ready even for enterprises early in their digital transformation journeys, CTOs are looking for the same CMSs to be ready for headless and omnichannel prime time. Buyers don't want to have to pick and choose. Doing so leaves either developers or marketers behind and unable to do their best work. That's why the #UniversalCMS paradigm is the answer, with: • a universal visual editor that straddles both monolithic and headless architectures for CMOs laser-focused on perfecting their foundational website first and foremost before setting their sights on an omnichannel-ready future. • a universal developer experience for CTOs that empowers both web (JavaScript, Jamstack) and web-renderable (cross-platform, digital signage, voice). Neither headless nor hybrid-headless has the right answer for both buyer personas. The #UniversalCMS does. Learn more about why the #UniversalCMS is becoming a term of choice for CMS vendors across the board at the Universal CMS Summit in Montréal on Monday, August 5th!

When we say headless is dead, we don’t mean organizations don’t need a headless architecture. A decoupled architecture has significant advantages, to the extent that we believe it will soon be default. Our contention is that most organizations still only need presence on a single channel: the web. So, for these vast majority of use cases, using a pure headless platform to build the same web experiences as before creates an inordinate amount of inefficiency. We’re solving this by building the next generation #UniversalCMS that offers powerful visual editing and a unified experience for content teams, while allowing developers to build headlessly. Thrilled to be joined by industry leaders to discuss the future of CMS in Montreal on August 5th! Link in comments for details!
