Read about #corporate #attorney and Member at Clark Hill Jacques L. Moye, CPA, Esq.'s career journey.
Business Development Leader with a Client-Centric Approach to Legal Services | Attorney Growth Strategist & Trainer | DEI Advocate Driving Law Firm Talent Enhancement Programs | Author of Careers in Business Law
Jacques L. Moye, CPA, Esq.’s journey from CPA to legal expert in M&A and real estate transactions is a masterclass in interdisciplinary expertise. Jacques, a Member at Clark Hill Law, has successfully navigated both the finance and legal worlds, leveraging his CPA background to enhance his legal practice. I'm excited to share another excerpt from my new book, "Careers in Business Law: Forging Your Path to Success," featuring Jacques Moye. “Jacques underscores the significance of having a business background, especially in accounting, for those looking to forge a career in corporate law or M&A. He shares an illustrative example from his practice where his accounting expertise directly contributed to a more favorable outcome for a client. In one instance, Jacques was able to leverage his deep understanding of financial statements to negotiate a higher purchase price during a transaction. His ability to analyze balance sheets and income statements in detail allowed him to identify undervalued aspects of the company being acquired, thereby arguing for a higher valuation. This example not only highlights the practical benefits of possessing technical skills but also showcases how such skills can lead to tangible advantages in negotiations. Beyond the technical, Jacques also emphasizes the importance of soft skills and energy in the legal profession. He believes that the ability to communicate effectively, build relationships with clients, and understand their needs is as crucial as having a strong technical foundation. Jacques’s approach to law is client-centered, focusing on building trust and ensuring that his clients feel valued and understood. This combination of technical prowess and interpersonal skills has been key to his success and longevity in the field. Jacques advises aspiring lawyers to cultivate a mindset of continuous learning and adaptation. The legal landscape is constantly evolving, with new laws and regulations shaping the practice. Having the energy and motivation to stay informed and adapt to these changes is essential. Jacques’ own career, marked by a transition from accounting to law and a continuous expansion of his areas of expertise, exemplifies the benefits of embracing change and seeking out new challenges. This blend of technical skills, soft skills, and a proactive attitude forms the foundation of a successful career in law, according to Jacques.” Celebrate with me Jacques Moye's outstanding contributions and the positive impact he's making in both the business and legal worlds. #TitleIX attorney Patricia Hamill is quoted in law.com’s Two Circuit Judges Show Glimmer of Hope for Administration in States' Title IX Regulation Challenges. Excerpt: Majority opinions for the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth circuits followed suit in denying the Department of Education’s requests to stay orders blocking the Aug. 1 enactment of Title IX rule changes, however, two judges have emerged as the first to side with the Biden administration’s gender-identity mandate provisions. “The Sixth Circuit has telegraphed that the expansion of Bostock v. Clayton County’s definition of sex discrimination into other areas, including Title IX, is likely dead on arrival or at least in for a substantial uphill battle,” Hamill said. “Whether the panel that gets the case on appeal will conclude similarly remains to be seen, but the reasoning on the request for a partial stay is, in my opinion, significant.” https://lnkd.in/gYgNKHnD

Congratulations to Josh Redelman who was recently appointed to the Houston Bar Association’s HAY Center Committee! The Committee works with the HAY (Houston Alumni Youth) Center to help those aging out of foster care. Each year, the committee organizes a festive holiday party featuring gifts, food, a visit from Santa, and family-friendly activities. They also support the Prom Event by collecting formal wear donations and volunteering at the event, and they celebrate high school seniors at the Graduation Party. Additionally, the committee participates in the College Bound Experience, assisting youth with shopping for college necessities, and conducts legal presentations to educate them about their rights and responsibilities. #volunteerwork #volunteer https://lnkd.in/geU94T5s
